Sellers
May, 2008
Salt Lake City, Utah favors home
sellers. The market conditions
in Salt Lake City create an
advantage for current property
owners.

Almost daily consumers are bombarded with news about the struggling economy and the downturn in the housing market by TV news and local newspapers. However, real estate market pricing and sales are local phenomenon not national. That is good news for Utah. In fact, Salt Lake is the third-best city in the nation for selling a house, according to a new Forbes analysis. In its “Best Cities for Home Sellers” report dated April 7, 2008, Forbes cited strong job growth, a declining home inventory and a sharp drop in new construction make Salt Lake City a good market for sellers. Other top markets for sellers include San Jose at number 1 and San Francisco at number 2.
The report’s findings come from a study of the country’s 40 largest metro areas, analyzing unsold vacancy rates, job growth, construction starts, new conforming loan limits and availability of financing.
